2nd Trimester Thoughts and Feelings

Typically known as the honeymoon phase in pregnancy, I was thankful that I was able to experience the known ‘honeymoon period’ in my 2nd trimester of my pregnancy. The past 3 months had been pretty smooth-sailing and I was glad that my hormonal changes were pretty positive too!

After experiencing nausea and bitterness in my mouth in my 1st trimester, I was doubtful that these feelings would miraculously disappear in my 2nd trimester. Little did I know that it really happened. In a span of a week, I realised that I was back to normalcy after my 1st trimester. My appetite returned and I was slowly gaining the weight that I should have been gaining (about 2kg a month).

It definitely felt a lot better without having to fight the urge to vomit, or fight the hunger as a result of not being able to eat. In this month, I thoroughly enjoyed my pregnancy, felt a lot happier, and was finally ‘feeling pregnant’.

Noticing the Bump

As a first-time mummy, I was diligently taking pictures of my bump every week and I must say, there weren’t many changes in the first few weeks and the bump only started becoming more noticeable at Week 18. I witnessed a growth spurt from Week 18 to Week 22. It was a pleasant surprise as that would mean that my baby girl is growing up healthy in my body!

From Week 22 to Week 28 onwards, the bump starting growing bigger and bigger and like what my husband and I coined it - it was a cute basketball. The bump became pretty round, yet not grossly huge, and still quite cute hahaha :”)

Clothing Woes

As a result of the happily-growing bump, my clothes started to feel really tight. I was unable to wear my work pants, or home shorts anymore. My tops started feeling tighter, as a result of a growing chest as well. I started turning towards Dear Collective - purchasing their nursing dresses, which are superb for pre-during-post pregnancy, and their maternity shorts and leggings.

I am a proud owner of their clothes right now and I love how their sizing is pretty consistent - I’m their M - and their clothes are really comfortable for the hot and humid Singapore weather!
