There is a multitude of applications out there, which are meant to help pregnant ladies, but once I went into downloading the applications, and started using them, I found that most of them require the paid versions. Also, I am not recommending many applications as I personally, do not like to have to toggle between applications to find information, or to key in information. Hence, I narrowed down to just one application for its own unique purpose!

Literally - What to Expect from your Pregnancy

(The following screenshots are taken from the What to Expect app)

What's so good about this application:

  • I like how they compare the size of the baby to fruits, that we are familiar with! I can better related to how 'small' (as of now!) my baby is

  • Every week, there will be new videos related to the week of your pregnancy. For example, in Week 13, they would tell you how the foetus is growing, what would the foetus begin developing first, how would the mummy be feeling and what to take note of!

  • The application would also elaborate more on the upcoming test and screenings - this helped because I do see other mummies taking these tests in the clinic but I have no idea what they were doing

  • It would also talk about some symptoms that begin disappearing e.g. fatigue, or begin appearing e.g. food cravings - oh this, I am most afraid of as I love FOOD! I hope my cravings won't be getting too crazy!

  • Articles related to pregnancy in general that could be helpful for you when just want to understand more about what is happening to your body

  • BEST PART OF ALL - this app is ABSOLUTELY FREE!

My Daily Exercise - Prenatal Yoga (Down Dog)

(The following screenshot is taken from the Down Dog app)

I first discovered this application while I was finding for yoga practices online, on YouTube and etc. I then got an advertisement on my Instagram stating that they were offering free subscription during the Covid-19 situation. Unfortunately, this application is not free and my free subscription (as a result of COVID-19) would end in in 2021 (thankfully after my pregnancy).

What's so good about this application?

  • You can choose your level of comfort with yoga, and as someone who has never really done yoga before, of course I had to choose Beginner! No way was I gonna kill myself doing those poses with my extremely inflexible body!

  • I could also choose the trimester that I was in - which means that they curate the different exercises/poses to suit that particular trimester!

  • I could also choose the duration of the workout

  • I could choose the type of music I'd like to hear during the workout - alternate beats, with minimal lyrics!

  • I could choose the voice that I want to hear during the workout and trust me, Sammi's voice is simply angelic and truly transports me to another zen world hahaha

My Daily Exercise - Bodyfit by Amy

(The following screenshot is taken from the Bodyfit by Amy's Youtube page)

Apart from doing yoga, I do cardio and strength training as well. However, as a first-time mummy, I was unsure what kind of exercises I could do, and how hard I could push myself. Thankfully, I found Bodyfit by Amy on Youtube and I fell in love with her workouts!

Not only do I follow her diligently, I even bought dumbbells so that I could do her dumbbell workouts alongside her. Besides, she do give great pregnancy tips throughout the workout and you could even apply what you have learnt on other normal videos (from Heather Robertson/Popsugar's) and modify the workouts yourself!

This is her list of pregnancy-safe workouts! You can check them out in this link here. She is still constantly adding more videos there, so I'm sure by the time you are reading this, she would have more than 58 workouts for you to choose from!

Post-Pregnancy - Recording feeding, pumping, sleeping timings

(The following screenshot is taken from the Baby Daybook app)

This part would be updated again after I give birth - end of 2020, sorry! However, I am putting it out there as I heard many mummies recommending this application and said that it really took the burden off their minds to "remember" the past feeding timing and etc. Moreover, you can sync the baby's activity with your partner, parents (if they're helping you), and confinement nanny! Isn't it wonderful that you can stop hearing questions about when the baby was last fed?!

To be continued!!
