The 3rd trimester flew by in a blink of an eye. In this trimester, the nesting instinct kicked in alongside with the weight of the baby. Not only were we frantically looking for a place to stay, I was also starting to feel the weight of my girl. This trimester made walking a little tougher as I started feeling the lower back aches, and hated the need to go to the toilet every. single. time!!

While I was carrying a “watermelon”, I was thankful that my friends came over to my place to spend quality time with me before my girl popped! :”)

I recalled the night prior to giving birth, I told myself that I wanted to grab that last scoop of ice cream (because traditionally, you can't have anything cold during 30 days of confinement) and I remembered how painful it felt to even sit for long as the I could feel the pressure of the baby on the pelvic area. That dinner, I felt a more intense pain in my pelvic area but I didn’t think that much into it and lo and behold, my water bag broke that night at 6am!

my last bump pic!

I calmly woke my husband up to inform him that my water bag had broken. As I did not feel any contractions, he called TMC and they suggested for us to head over for a check. We reached TMC at around 6.30am, and as it was 11th November 2020, it was really crowded! I guess many people wanted to induce their baby out on this date?! Was placed at an observation ward and realised I was already 3cm dilated. Guess it was time for her to come out!!!! :D

Not sure what they did but soon, I felt my contractions and they were STRONG! The first 2-3 hours, where my contractions were around 8-10min apart, were pretty bearable. The nurses tempted me many many times to get the epidural but I was thankful that my husband managed to convince me out of it (we did talk about this beforehand - to convince me not to take when I am in distress haha!). The contractions were “screamable pain” (I don't even know how to describe the intensity of pain in words) when they were 2-3min apart and up till today, I have no idea how I went through it HAHA

Unfortunately, due to the “crowd”, I did not have my own room till I was 8/9cm dilated.

5 hours in (11.40am), they finally decided my baby girl was ready to be pushed out and I was pushed into the delivery ward. I don’t know what was worse - my gynae not having arrived (they didn’t expect that I would dilate so quickly), or that I wasn’t allowed to push. The contractions were so strong, it triggered a natural urge to push every single time but the nurse was just reminding me non-stop that I could not push until my gynae arrived!!

When my gynae came, it was showtime! 10-15mins of intense pushing, my sweetest little pie was out!!!! Felt every single brunt of it, and it was sure as hell painful but it was worth every single bit of it. I knew the exact moment she came out, albeit halfway and I knew when I safely delivered her. To know that she was all well, was all that matters at that point in time. Still feeling the pains of delivery, I hugged her in my arms, and cried. Now I’m not sure if I cried because I was in that much pain, or because the girl I was carrying for 9 months, finally was in my arm. Hahahahaha!

Through it all, papa was calm, and encouraged me. Wouldn’t have been able to do it without him! As TMC was so crowded, they were really short-handed and there was no room ready for me. That was a blessing in disguise as I got to spend 2 hours of skin-to-skin contact with Emma :”) P.s. I was bent on breastfeeding and the first few minutes/hours of skin-to-skin is so crucial for a successful breastfeeding journey. Hence, not complaining for them making me wait!

she's soooo smaaaalll!!!

Here I am, typing this birth story and reliving the great memories I had on that fateful day :”)

I definitely enjoyed my “staycation” at my “hotel”, where I was served food, really delicious food, and drinks and I even had a magical button where I could get help for caregiving! After returning home, I really missed that button and wanted to have that button again hahahahahaha

Feeling all excited, that our 11.11 (hence the "rockstar" hand sign) has finally arrived, safely in our arms :")
